Castle in the Clouds

As the world draws from me
I fly from it, in turn, in dreams

An escape from a place
Know not the danger I face
Flee into the sky
In a form that's not mine
Mutation, it's not right
Imagination seems my only way to fight
Wondering what my wings have cost
While updrafts hold me aloft

Rising to the sky on borrowed wings
With feet kicking, tail flicking
Rising too high on my borrowed wings
This dream still has more to show me

Thermals lifting me up
Catching under these wings
The air lifts me towards
A dark fortress, terrifying
Thermals pushing me up
As I see this is no dream
Rising air closes, enshrouds
The castle within my clouds

The rows of hollow spots
And wings, on soft-coated body
They're all things that couldn't be

The castle in dark clouds
Pushing into my reality
Something that shouldn't be

The fortress in the night
Drawing closer all the time
I know I need to fight
I don't know how

The power in my shape
I don't know how to tame
Just a beast hunting naked in the dark

Strength beneath claw and wing
I can feel everything
I am this thing, can't be this thing
I don't know what I am

Thermals lifting me up
Catching under these wings
The air lifts me towards
A dark fortress, terrifying
Thermals pushing me up
As I see this is no dream
Rising air closes, enshrouds
The castle within my clouds

Backwing to a blackened battlement
I- oh...
It's here
