New Years 2012

New Years day 2012
In a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania hotel
And I was tired, tired as hell
Glad to be off those mountain roads where it was really coming down

And they were all under construction, yeah just like me
Rain hitting my windshield so hard I could barely see
And there was no where to pull over, kept looking at the needle for the gas
Listening to my collie in the backseat pant

Ohhhh

It's the great American adventure of our times
Being all alone and being 25
Having gotten a degree in the humanities
But I wasn't using it, in fact it was using me

And I remember the night before
At a relative's house in Cincinnati, Ohio
And they hadn't seen me in years, it had been about forever
They didn't know who I was when I rang the bell and then we rang the new year in together

Ohhhh

I got a doodle in my head, an almost infinite sketch
Of all the things that I can remember from the past
I've got a couple conditions, so far undiagnosed
Ones that I'd like to keep between me and the road

Ohhhh

New Years day 2012
In a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania hotel
