Decayed

The stars are drowned out by the light
But the light won't show beauty to suffice
The wind is swaying the trees
But the trees are rooted deep beneath

Your breath's becoming still
And distant from the world your presence fills
And radio waves tingle in my spine
While I fall in tune with the chilly night

And how I wonder how far it goes
How I wish to fall off of the ground and into what's unknown

I remember your gaze
Lined with intrigue and better days
Like the delicate touch
Of water reaching out to be your crutch

Why did I stay away
When now at night I only lie awake
To think what happens now
Might've been caused by my mistake

How I wonder what would have been up ahead
How I wish to trust the thoughts that I had, when the water called me back

And though you'll never see
The feeling now decayed
My heart is still the same

And though I'm left behind
I'm never far away
I'll never run stray
You are my break of day

But now you're down the stream
And now the water parts away from me
It causes pain to see
Though I know you'll float on now that you're free
