Nothing Happens

People don't react
Like formless figures in her dreams;
To her, it seems
Asylum lies inside
The space behind her eyes

She want the end, but not the means
Standing at the start,
Never moving on,
Staying far apart;
The novel in her mind is a work of art
But living in a trance, she can't progress
Breathing stagnant air,
Speaking to somebody who isn't there
The pages of the album begin to tear

She stays in her head
To keep herself safe from the fall
'Cause nothing bad happens
If nothing happens at all

Doors and windows she created
Kept her far behind
And now she finds
Asylum isn't worth
The solitude inside

She shifts to splintering the walls,
Kicking down the door
Done with standing still
Like she did before
And asking of herself
What she's waited for
She steps into the light,
And takes a breath,
Opens up her eyes,
Smiling to herself,
Looking toward the skies
And sprinting to the real
From the idealized

She flees from her head
And throws herself into the fall
Nothing good happened
When nothing happened at all
