Little Miss

Little Miss Chicken lived in harmony
On a farm with other birds wondering who was best to be
She'd watch Mr. Duck, around the pond he swam
Knowing she could never traverse without land

And she'd cry, and wonder how it came to be
That every other bird was luckier than she
She'd tell herself this story:
She'd never be as good as others who were different
She never understood

Mr. and Mrs. Robin lived above
Raising their family, and chirping out their love
And the best was Miss Swan, whose presence made her weak
Little Miss Chicken pined for her majestic physique

And she'd cry, and wonder how it came to be
That every other bird was luckier than she
She'd tell herself this story
She'd never be as good as others who were different
She never understood.

Early one morning, another in her nest
A little farm hand, grateful, in need of an egg
And Little Miss Chicken rewrote her story plot and thought
Maybe I can also do what other birds can not.

And she'd smile and wonder how it came to be
That there was ne'er a luckier bird than she
She'd tell herself this story, knowing where she fit
Among all the others, no better or worse, just different
