The Cycle of Sin In Judges
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus
Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua
Judges, Judges
That's what was I gonna tell you about
Just looking through the Old Testament
I got up to Judges and that made me think of something
That I've learnt when I, when I read the book of Judges
And I sing it sing about it
I just try to put my Bible
Then I can play my guitar and hold the Bible at the same time
Alright, how does it start?
Ah, yes, mouth-drop
Well, if you read the book of Judges, it's a topsy-turvy tale
Of the judges, God raised up to lead his people, Israel
Like Gideon and Deborah and Samson who was strong
But Israel flapped and flipped and flopped and everything went wrong
It's the cycle of sin that goes round and around
Well, there was peace in the land when Israel obeys
Then they turn from their God and Israel disobeys
And God punishes his people and Israel is enslaved
Then Israel cries out to the Lord their God
Then God hears Israel's cry and he sees Israel's pain
And he raises up a judge to restore them again
And Israel is delivered, and they walk in God's ways
And there's peace in the land when Israel obeys (mouth-drop)
Well, if you read the book of Judges, you'll know that it's true
Israel turned from their God, and we all do that too
So God sent his Son, who died on the cross
Jesus who rose up to rescue the lost
From the cycle of sin that goes round and around
Like when there was peace in the land when Israel obeys
Then they turn from their God and Israel disobeys
And God punishes his people and Israel is enslaved
Then Israel cries out to the Lord their God
Then God hears Israel's cry and he sees Israel's pain
And he raises up a judge to restore them again
And Israel is delivered, and they walk in God's ways
And there's peace in the land when Israel obeys
One moment they're up, next moment they're down
That's the cycle of sin that goes round and around in Judges
Last little bit of mouth-drop
