Flowerchild

Colorful pictures and flowers
Adorn your place
Posters of Hendrix over your bed
Your hair grows long and wild and a flower
Adorns your head
You try to cover some wrinkels on your face

Your skin may be old
But your heart is young
It's still seventeen
Like in the good times back in the day
And you're still the same one
With the difference, that you're now seventy
And your brown hair turned to grey

You turn the old records on
And everything is fine
You're still the little flowerchild
That you were back in nineteen-sixty-nine

Remember your first love
He was older than you
You were at Woodstock hand in hand
Now you're standing at his grave and you're thinking of the sweet times
The times when you flew
And it was your first summer too

These colors once so bright
Start to bleach out
They're not that intense anymore
You try to catch those memories
But they break out
They're now what you're living for

You turn the old records on
And everything is fine
You're still the little flowerchild
That you were back in nineteen-sixty-nine
