Don't Be Afraid of Growing Old

Don't be afraid of growing old
The older you get, the fuller the soul
Don't disguise the years, or be ashamed
We really all can be amazing for our age!

Don't hide away, wear your existence with pride
For all you are now, in this precise point in time
Don't pretend to be younger than you are
An embodied maturity is more enticing by far

Don't judge others by their number
If you don't want to be judged by yours
Don't judge others by their number
Why try to be anything other? Ah!

Don't assume I've lost the will to discover
Don't assume that I'm stuck in my ways
It's not age that makes a suitable lover
It's the knowing of self and an openness to share

There's so much our older selves would like to tell us
Like not to worry about not being enough
Don't hope for a place away from where you are
There are so many others who won't even make it this far

Don't be afraid of growing old
The older you get, the fuller the soul
Don't disguise the years, or be ashamed
We really all can be amazing for our age

For our age!
