Headlights

I stared long and hard
The sun, it burned, I wore a scarf
Julia sat in the back
I watched her, watch her
And wait her turn

I never wanted nothing more than just a little time
I'm too nervous to be around you
And I thought I was right but
I was just stuck in the headlights

I held it
I kept it in my hands
I felt it
A shadow, hot and yellow full of grass

I never wanted nothing more than just a little time
I get anxious when I'm around you
And I thought I was right, but
I was just stuck in the head, headlights

The sun, it burned
I soothed it with the snow
I wait to burn again
