White Picket Fence

We grew up fast
A little faster then we planned
Put a small rock on your hand
Then we started rambling

Two vagabonds
Bounced around from town to town
Searching for where to put roots down
Memories made and some erased

On the way to San Diego
Watching waves break from the train
Caught a game ball in Seattle
Then rode the ferry in the rain
Now the snow falls down in Denver
And it all seems to make sense,
Whatever weather, town or city
We put down roots and put up our white picket fence

Well we started with a mortgage
But we found it best to rent
Humbled down to our last cent
Build upon mistakes we made

You gave me courage to take a leap
You pulled me out of the abyss
Do you think it would end different
Not holding out on that first kiss

On the way to San Diego
Watching waves break from the train
Caught a game ball in Seattle
Then rode the ferry in the rain
Now the snow falls down in Denver
And it all seems to make sense,
Whatever weather, town or city
We put down roots and put up our white picket fence.

We could be living in a castle
Or under stars camping in tents
Wherever we are we call home
And live out life with no regrets

On the way to San Diego
Watching waves break from the train
Caught a game ball in Seattle
Then rode the ferry in the rain
We drank to much on bourbon
Got lost in corn fields in Souix falls
Our breath was frozen in Chicago
Boston gave us great last calls
Now the snow falls down in Denver
And it all seems to make sense
Whatever weather, town or city
We put down roots and put up our white picket fence
We put down roots and put up our white picket fence
We put down roots and put up our white picket fence
