Prometheus

Upon the top of Mount Olympus
There was the giant called Prometheus
And when he looked upon the world below
He saw that man was lost

The stone it holds no wisdom
The dark provides no heat
He saw into the future
And seized what he could reach

Bring us the fire, the flame of the gods
Defy them to provide us what we need
Up in the skies, steal the flames
And bring that burning heat to me

Man looked at his inferno
And stepped into the light
No longer was the man afraid
Of the creatures of the night

Prometheus was joyful
He thought he'd done a welcome deed
But punishment descended
The gods knew only greed

They saw the stolen fire
And thought it was a move
To seize the throne for his own gain
His pain for me and you

Bring us the fire, the flame of the gods
Defy them to provide us what we need
Up in the skies, steal the flames
And bring that burning heat to me
