Song Without a Sound (Commentary)

Alone sitting on the ground
Running thoughts in circles
Dancing in my mind
Alive seemingly at first
Chasing these distractions
Losing all its light

I know this day will come to haunt me
I fear the times I was frustrated

Serve to only remind me of songs that lost their sound
We have replaced and written out
On these pages we throw down
We have place for nothing now

So we write
Writing in the dark
The vision's all but faded
The passion's old and dry
And we throw our words down on these pages
We leave no room for spaces
And care not what the ink-stained lines convey from broken lives

I know these pages come to haunt us
I fear the times that I was honest

They meant nothing
I've been singing songs that lost their sound
We have replaced and written out
On these pages we throw down
We have place for nothing now

So we write another thousand
Filling books stacked on the ground
So we can stand on all our reason
Singing songs without a sound

And to those hearts without a song
They have replaced me, throw me down
Place something of worth within me
I amount to nothing now
