Ainda

What was it really back then
I was prepping for a reading with my grad school friends
But before it would begin she had walked on in
Saw me posted on keys my hands and fingers tinkering
She said hello with confidence and knew who I was
After the reading all the students wanna get 'em a buzz
At the pubs down the street students professors would meet
San Bernardino night still cooling off the springtime heat
Castaway bar loveliest view of the city
She laughed in a red sweater being so spunky and pretty
I invited her to my place just to get us away
She asked a cohort to come they said like sure and okay
We smoked a bowl and played piano she met my roomie and brother
I didn't know who would like who but hoped it would be each other
I got her number had a good feeling this was exciting and new
Watched her drive off that may evening neath the light of the moon the night was beautiful

Inda
E ela mais ainda
Ôba, lá vem ela

Flashforward a couple years we've been together a minute
In a truck with lotsa homies for some camping at Lake Hemet
Air was chilly as it darkened and we sat round a fire
Dosed out and played Jorge Ben until we felt all inspired
I sat and let organic spirits bend all timing and space
I watched my love watch the fire light a glow on her face
Each guitar strum a reminder now that I have found her
Can't let love flounder gotta help her fly never try to ground
My feelings flickered with the flame and how they danced in the breeze
There with friends and family and my love beneath the trees
I thought about where we were thought about where we been
How she's my very favorite person how she's been my best friend
So unexpected and electric when we met yet now it's calm
Time held still and I really doubt the moment was long
Each music note told a story of where I wanted to go
To build a life with this woman and to call it my home
And the night was beautiful

Inda
E ela mais ainda
Ôba, lá vem ela
