On the run
You drive in the darkness with a full moon over ahead
The miles are piling up and your eyes are turning red
While listening to the radio the disk jockey said
That the state police where searching on the highway up ahead
You turn onto a back road to avoid the waiting cops
Just keep your cool and watch your speed and hope you don't get stopped
You wonder to your self could anybody know
You've got to get out of dodge and you've got to be a ghost
On the run, on the run
You took everything you could take, you left your cell phones behind
Without your smart phones on you, you're mostly flying blind
You know you've got to vanish off the face of the earth
Now that your face is everywhere you wonder what you're worth
Some people make a living finding people on the run
They don't that you didn't mean to hurt anyone
They won't care what went down in the middle of the night
You're going to be wanted for the rest of your life
On the run, on the run
You're going to be set up to take a fall
Just because you happened to witness it all
So everybody's after you and you know you're being framed
You packed your gun, now you're on the run
There's no way that you can prove your innocence
You made a clean escape, nobody know which you went
Now you've got to make sure to stay off the grid
All your buddy's back home must be flipping their lids
So you drive along while your girlfriend takes a nap
You didn't tell her what went down and she didn't ask
You find it very cumbersome to read a map
You wish you had navigation or something with an app
On the run, on the run
You want drive your car to some place deep down south
Where two American minors are not allowed
You are fortunate to have a lot of cash
And pretty soon you're going to have to crash
Do you get a room or take turns driving the car
You know the odds are against you getting far
Together you will go and make your grand escape
Do you say a prayer to God or leave it up to fate
On the run, on the run
The miles are piling up and your eyes are turning red
While listening to the radio the disk jockey said
That the state police where searching on the highway up ahead
