The Curtain

A portrait of a time
But my palette's only got black and white
And I want to paint
But nothing comes to mind
We're trapped on the inside
While the seasons change and pass us by
Don't know what to do
In these unprecedented times

Will my friends forget my face
Will their fondness of my be erased
While they tell us that we should keep the curtain down
When we all go on to live
Will they realize that I'll never give
Them anything that's worth sticking around

Maybe I'm a fool
But I think about when this is through
I want to change
Will I come out feeling new
Or maybe hope is cruel
And we won't go back to what we knew
Life's a game
These are the new rules

So many people I want to know
There's so many places that I want to go
But they tell us that we should keep the curtain down
When we all go on to live
Will the meaning of the word begin
To change to something different than the one it has now

Maybe hope is cruel
Maybe hope is cruel
Maybe hope is cruel
Maybe

Is this the new normal
Will things be different now
How long will we keep the curtain down
