Bluegrass Boy

A young boy from Kentucky on his way to Tennessee
Left behind the sounds of home for the Nashville dream
In his heart there burned a passion to sing on some big stage
He didn't think the songs from home would bring him any fame

He practiced famous tunes on the strings of his guitar
He practiced 'til his fingers bled hoped he become a star
He played at every venue that his name could get him in
Playing on street corners while coins filled up his tin

He may have left the mountains
But they'll never leave him
Every time he plays or sings a song
The echos in those mountains sing along
You can hear the bluegrass in that boy

One night on center stage in a crowded room
His trusty Gibson broke a string and suddenly lost tune
His hopes and dreams were leaving they were headed for the door
The audience grew restless, they wanted to hear more

He may have left the mountains
But they'll never leave him
Every time he plays or sings a song
The echos in those mountains sing along
You can hear the bluegrass in that boy

Reluctantly, he stole away out back behind the bar
He grabbed his banjo case from the trunk of his old car
He made his way back to the stage with the banjo on his knee
He started singing songs from home... well the rest is history

He may have left the mountains
But they'll never leave him
Every time he plays or sings a song
The echos in those mountains sing along
You can hear the bluegrass in that boy

He may have left the mountains
But they'll never leave him
Every time he plays or sings a song
The echos in those mountains sing along
You can hear the bluegrass in that boy
