Spleen

My lilting train sailed through
Sunlit leaves, rouge-burnt bush and breeze
Cast in a brook my flank and choppy nape
Devoured by carp
Through bright winds I bounded quilled rivers
My raped bones chilled banks of l'hiver
And all the while the sky kept falling down

I woke up falling
In someone else's dream

A kingdom far below was to be mine
And heaven didn't seem to be my home
A kingdom far below was to be mine
And it didn't seem to be my home

As I wandered through murky twilight
Cast as a shadow
Obscuring bracken 'neath forlorn hillsides
Unbridled, club hoofed and dyed
And peering up through chill and startling dusk
Your window light
The bell around my collar wrestles
Gently in it's windy vessel
And with that I'm vanished to the gloom
