Midnight Limerence

So far, camp's been a bitter sweet flower
All the food's missed my mouth
Even though it's been open so wide
I could've swallowed myself whole
The campfire brings a different scene
And embers flow from you to me
I wanna make a move
But I choke on my marshmallow

I call myself a maverick
But can't do what I want with it

Endowed with limerence
More than infatuation
I guess the fanatic in me
Just wants the perfect situation

Now you're effervescent
And efflorescent
Iridescent
And out of reach

I wake up at midnight to the snores of teenage boys
Limerence aching, so I sneak out and hear a voice
Mellifluous
Ethereal
You're the first thing that I feel
We leave for the forest with sleeping bags
To suck all the marrow out of life
Only this time
I don't plan to choke on the bone

And your dulcet lips say
The forest smells sweet
Your gossamer hair makes the moonlight meek
My eloquence gone
My verbiage a wreck
Is this dalliance or denouement
I'm sorry, I swallowed the dictionary
To hide my stupid grin
And the nightingale sings
It's a satisfied sleep
There's no Bible space
But we don't care if we're caught
Cause nothing over PG-13 happened

As we fade into the forest dim
Midnight limerence wins
