The Year of the World

We didn't know it on that day
No push to realize
We treated everything well there's tomorrow
And it hit us like a train
It widened up our eyes
And half the world was left up to sorrow
To take a step back from where we are oh!

Close the shops close the schools
Cancel flights it's on the news
Its come to that now look who's the hunted
Now you're six feet away
And I'm sure pissed today
A virus going around not confronted
I've got no blame for how who or what did
Cause slowly our seams will be sewn back in one
I know that I'll see you

Are you feeling out of place?
A victim to the mind?
The shallow world forgets you're unnoticed
From the mother raising five
To the first responders' lives
We weren't prepared could we even toe this?
The suits who rule how many did know this?

I don't feel this our demise
And forever it won't be
But sadness here it grows from what drove us
So for now can't see your face
But I promise this and say
We rise above to that which would distress us
We rise above to that which would oppress us
If only our dreams could be tied with the sun
I know that I'll see you again
I know that I'll see you again
The year of the world is ours friends
