Proper

I'm too tired to detect the sarcasm in the room tonight
So when I tell you that silly story I probably won't tell it right

I move my feet too fast, my lungs can't keep up
I am crashing, I am crashing, I am crashing
Like the trees knocked over from the winters melt and the way it felt to talk about it

The days blend into one and I can never seem to tell when I've reached the end of one
The setting sun is just a sign of more fun to come

I've been listening to new music again, or at least music that's new to me
I feel so happy, so seen
I can't believe I'm not the only retired emo teen
Who lived through that nightmare dream where they couldn't tell if everyone hated them or was afraid of them cause of the colour of their skin

It's a lack of pop culture knowledge
It's a fear of never fitting in
It's the tears after being told to not talk so loud and being asked to not raise your hand in class
It's the oh so memorable birthday party where nobody showed up
There were more lifeguards than limbs in the pool and I felt like such a fool

So when I tell you I'm too tired to detect the sarcasm in the room tonight
And when I tell you that silly story and I don't tell it right
I hope you understand
