'69
A time for revolution and new beginnings
The age of space and the era of drugs and all of the above
Why is it when I think of the 60's
Do I imagine a utopia full of wonders far beyond our own?
But then big bro started to get involved with our lives
Messing up our families by pushing us to our precious drugs
We said out with the old and in with the new
We ain't got no time for what our parents had in store for us
Life is complex for man
Far too many obstacles in your path and then they
Wonder why it's all going to hell
We were on the verge of greatness
The age of space was at our grasp
But in the end it never came to be
Oh how typical
Oh but what happened next was so fucking crucial
We got bombarded with drugs, sex and rock and roll
We stopped caring for what was above us
And started caring for our next fix like a bunch of fucking pigs
We could've gone to outer space
With our red friends from the east
But in the end he was murdered
Oh well
Oh but in '69 we went to the moon
And we showed the world who's number one
We reached new frontiers and broke new records
All in the name of progress
What happened to the age of wonders and the age of miracles?
Is it all doomed?
Have we moved past that?
Only time will tell if we're on the right path
(We're not, but we can)
The age of space and the era of drugs and all of the above
Why is it when I think of the 60's
Do I imagine a utopia full of wonders far beyond our own?
But then big bro started to get involved with our lives
Messing up our families by pushing us to our precious drugs
