Underneath the apple tree I fell from
There's a list of my regrets a mile long
From summer days to the winter grays
I've still been the same, stuck here in my old ways
But god help me, cause I know that I've got to change

The ground where I planted a seed
It turned itself and grew a life in spite of me
But I've been trying every day to grow up and be unafraid
Of falling short of everything I said I'd be

I've run back my beaten tracks and beat myself till I'm black
Self-hatred runs too deep to cut myself some slack
All my failures still burn deep inside my soul
God help me not to turn into a black hole
But I still can change, I hold onto hope
