Coming Home

Well you thought you didn't hear from me
But here I am again
On my way home
Taking the train to my fam'
Because it is the most beautiful time of the year
No wonder I am excited I mean holidays are near
I'm driving home for Christmas
Bing Crosby on my headphones
All exams behind me university's a dead zone
I'll put the stress of my shoulders
Leave the worries behind
Anticipation is the only thing that's now on my mind
I can't wait to see my mom and dad again
And my friends and my sister
God knows how much I missed them
I feel like I am 6, I can't wait to see our Christmas tree
Folks I'm coming home tell me
"Have you been missing me?"
I smell cookies, I smell candles, I smell resin
We drink hot chocolate, watch old movies, it is heaven
And if we're lucky it maybe starts to snow
But whatever I don't really care
As long it's home sweet home

And really isn't that what Christmas is about?
Appreciate the things you enjoy day in, day out
Everything you've been gifted with
All the love, all the joy, all the freedom, all the privilege
It's not about the presents, it's not about vacation
It's just about the people that you love and you have faith in
Peers that keep your heart warm
I mean there're families uniting
That were separate all year long
It's about opening our hearts, and not our gifts
It's about standing up for the things that you miss
And the best way to spread Christmas cheer
Is singing Christmas songs out loud for everyone to hear
And yes I am not a saint and who am I to teach you
There so many things I have to learn I guess you have too
But in the end I am just a boy on the train
who really can't wait to see his hometown again
Merry Christmas
