In Hell

I had a friend who lived in prison
I had a friend who lived in jail
he had to live without the sunshine
he had to spend some time in hell

This friend he was my brother
we were close and we were tight
now he's gone I'm more alone now
and I'm glad can see him tonight
I'm not a man who can go without mornings
I'm not a man who can go without songs
so many things that I'd be needing
my friend must be very strong

What of the wandering wind in my face
or a flowered cliff above the sea
things I don't even think about but things I need so desperately
smiles to give and take from friends
and rolling hills of green
this poem could go for a million if I
told you all the things that I need

I'm not a man who can go without mornings
I'm not a man who can go without songs
so many things that I'd be needing
my friend must be very strong

I had a friend who lived in prison
I had a friend who lived in jail
he had to live without the sunshine
he had to spend some time in hell

I'm not a man who can go without mornings
I'm not a man who can go without songs
so many things that I'd be needing
my friend must be very strong
