The Last Quarter
The Last Quarter.
I microwave my dinner,
Then I eat it on my own.
My apartments kind of shabby, but it's home.
My dog looks like he's one of the Ramones.
My only stimulation is on this telephone.
Light years from being perfect,
Is this why I must atone?
I microwave my dinner,
Then I'll eat it on my own.
I turn into my father, every day.
I meet him in the mornings when I shave.
He had these football metaphors,
For everything he'd say
"Though victory seems elusive
Fight until that whistle blows"!
I'll just microwave my dinner,
Then I 'll eat it on my own.
"Scepter and crown
They all come tumbling down"
We learnt when we were young
yes it all comes tumbling down .
"Half your team is gay", he'd say.
"Growing up without a Dad.
Raised by bitter women,
who believe all men are bad".
It's the 21 st century,
And the second fall of Rome.
I'll take the bread,
You keep your circus,
I can face this on my own.
You could say that it's a tragedy,
Living like some elderly recluse.
It is'nt pride or shyness,
Nor some type of self-abuse.
My Appetites diminished,
Soon I'll be just skin and bone.
When you finally grasp what's happening,
You'll be too far down that road...
"Scepter and crown,
They all come tumbling down".
We learnt when we were young,
How it all comes tumbling down .
My apartments kind of shabby, but it's home.
My dog looks like he's one of the Ramones.
My only stimulation is on this telephone.
Light years from being perfect,
This is why I must atone.
Soon they'll zap me in some mikro
And sing "Jesus take him home" ...
I microwave my dinner,
Then I eat it on my own.
My apartments kind of shabby, but it's home.
My dog looks like he's one of the Ramones.
My only stimulation is on this telephone.
