Big Bear

My body's warming up to the snow
And with every step my feet will get colder
And with every breath I will become old
Velvet roses peeking out from the ice
My snapped arm like a branch heavy with burden.
Burden nature gave to it

Unsafe from snow
The nights are cold
Instead of leaves
There is blood on the trees
But I have no home
So here I roam
In the forest
Where my footsteps can't find me

The grove now growing around my eyes
The trees hang bleakly above my warm body
And the plants expand around me
The clouds speed up and they run past
And the snow piles up like pillars of salt
And Sodom burns brightly

Beneath the snow
My heart still glows
Exhausting warmth
To keep it still going
And as it dulls
And the snow falls
The last beat of my heart provides me
An open tongue
A fiery lung
The strength to stand
And to keep on going
And through the snow
What we don't see
We will feel where our fingers reach
