London on Fire

Anyone would think
I love the way you traumatise me
That I want a love that terrifies me
Like you do
Anyone would think
I love the taste of cyanide
It has a way of purifying me
Maybe it's true

So I crawled to the river
And looked on the surface
I saw an impostor wearing my necklace
I thought this was over
But when I turned my head around

Burnt is the sky
Somehow now I see
London on fire
My hometown in a cloud
Of ruins alight
Think I left my mind in
London on fire

It started in my head
When I was at a war with you
On couches in the afternoon
I just wanted you to feel me
The spark jumped to my bed
I didn't mean for it to spread so soon
The flames spilled down the avenue
And into my city
And I'm so sorry so sorry

I crawled to the river
And looked on the surface
I saw this impostor wearing my necklace
I tried to control her
But when I turned my head around

Burnt is the sky
Somehow now I see
London on fire
My hometown in a cloud
Of ruins alight
Think I left my mind in
London on fire

And I can't blame no one else
No one else
I did it to myself
And when I did it to myself
I took the life of someone else
And that someone else
Multiplied its cells
And now the city is a shell as well as me
Of what it was
Cos what it was to be came at a
Pricey cost for everybody in this story
And I'm sorry
Yeah, I'm so sorry
But have you ever been so lost
That you find yourself in the dust
Cos the person you trust
Tells such pretty lies
That the only way you can survive
Is to throw flames from your eyes
So that they really really really
Realise that they've gone too far too many times
Put the heat on overdrive
And all these petty crimes become
The very thing that buries them alive
And this firebomb I threw
It took my own soul too
And I watch and I cry
As the buildings crumble
And I mumble something like
"God bless
Goodbye
I guess I'll see you in another life
Man those flames sure can thrive"
And I'm not sure if this is all in my mind
But either way
What a perfect day to die
I'm almost jealous now
The sirens sounding closer now
And London town is burning down
So tell them I'll be standing by this water
There's enough to undo this slaughter
To save all their sons and daughters
The blaze pulsates I am found
And they ask me if I'm proud
And I say loud
"Don't hurt the ones who'd die for you
Or you might dig a hole for two
That's big enough for 10 million souls to fall through
And you just might find out as you turn your head around"

Burnt is the sky
Somehow now I see
London on fire
My hometown is drowned
In ruins alight
Think I left my mind in
Think I lost my mind
Where is my mind in
London on fire
