pomerance

I walked down an amber path
Pines and clear water beside
I turned around where the pathways had narrowed
To see if you followed behind
But when I turned I was blinded by light
My footing had now gone astray
So I turned around to the path that had narrowed
Foolishly leading the way

When I'm old and life is slow
All of the paths will unwind
All of those paths will be littered with footprints
And all of those hills will be climbed
This book will be shelved and dusty, forgotten
And more will be noted and signed
Or maybe that pathway that led me away from you
Will always be on my mind
