Cocoon

A day when she was young, she was wrapped up with care
Swaddled and tucked where nobody would stare
Stuffed in a corner, her lips were sewn shut
The coins on her eyes began gathering dust

Unravel the cocoon
Peel back his layers

He dragged through his days trying masks on his face
Posturing for peers, it all seemed so sincere
While resenting his own skin, a voice cried from within
Lost in this labyrinth, both beginning and end

Unravel the cocoon
Peel back his layers
Unveiling her truth
Learning her way

On each side of the mirror
The reflections grow nearer
Until the glass lay shattered upon the floor

Unravel the cocoon
Peel back his layers
Unveiling her truth
Learning her way
Finding her crown
Wearing it now
