William (A Folktale)

Williams father was a sailor
Williams mother left them
He said son find yourself a nice one
One that won't leave you
William said how will I know
He said son you won't
You've just got to trust in the ways
William said that's fine with me

And when she left she took his heart with her
And walked down to the water
And when he saw her step onto that boat
He fell to his knees

William said where did you go
He was too tired to speak
Williams father went to his room
And William never understood again

William learned to play piano
His father learned to garden
The house needed to be painted
And the grass needed to be cut

And when she left she took his heart with her
And walked down to the water
And when he saw her step onto that boat
He fell to his knees
He said William don't ever leave the one you love
If it's true then you'll know to do your best

Williams father was a sailor
Williams mother left them
He said you'll know it's her
When she does her best for you
