Fireflies

Poke my head
From under the sheets
I see
A wonderland unfolds for me
Golden lights float around my room
And the plants smell oh-so-sweet
The sights and sounds are captivating
And I'll never fall asleep

Moss underfoot
Like the softest of clouds
A wan smile
Chasing butterflies around
My face is lit with a pinkish hue
As the lights change subtly
Looking up the most beautiful view
The fireflies surround me

I'll never fall asleep
This is so much better
The fireflies they love me
More than the dreams ever could
Surely this must be reality
And the dreams are nightmares
This wonderland of beauty
Is better than anything out there

I start to float
In bubbles of light
My ceiling
Has the blue of a summer night
The precious air has the freshest taste
With the ceiling fan so still
My wish for sleep has been replaced
With the fireflies' trill

I'll never fall asleep
This is so much better
The fireflies they love me
More than the dreams ever could
Surely this must be reality
And the dreams are nightmares
This wonderland of beauty
Is better than anything out there
Anything out there

If I ever fall asleep
I'll rejoin the nightmare
The fireflies, clouds, and trees
Will be replaced with stale air
My wonderland of beauty
Is better than anything out there
My perfect world of beauty
Is better than anything out there

Anything out there
Anything out there

Everything out there
