The Place I Want to Be

I want to live in a society
Not a violent all-powerful entity
Ruled by the rich petty bourgeoisie
And the Wall Street crooks and police
I want to live in equality
Free of kings and queens and hierarchies
Where working people of our country unite in solidarity

I want to live in diversity
Where all types of people stand with me
And through intersectionality we come to understand our needs
I want to live where the bell she rings
To signal all of this land is free
Where the bleeding heart of liberty confronts her enemies

I want to live in a willow tree
With the red-winged blackbirds and doves of peace
The strength in our community is questioned by nobody
Oh I don't want to live in the world I see
All the warmth I felt has abandoned me
So desperately onto hope I'll cling
