14 At 41

I took a walk one night
Down to the fields
The evening was soft and golden
And Lana del Rey was playing
I saw him from afar
A friend of friends I always liked
He'd seen me too and was coming my way
We kissed on the cheeks
I said "I can't believe my eyes"
And he said "it's been a long time"

We spread our jackets on the grass
Sat down and raised our plastic glasses
And began to talk about what had happened
Since we last saw each other
We talked about kids and common friends
And places we've both been
And after a while
He told me about his broken marriage
And I said "can I get you another drink?"

Summertime and the living is easy
Fish are jumping and the grass is high
Summertime and the living is...
Hope is a dangerous for a woman like...

After the show we took a stroll along the water into town
We'd lost our cool
We couldn't stop smiling
We couldn't stop talking
I felt appreciated and free
His wild blue eyes smiled at me
I said "I wish I had dressed warmer"
And he put his arm around my shoulder
And I felt 14 at 41

I took a walk last summer
Down to field where Lana was singing
Something was waiting for me there
I never wanted it to end
I'm looking at him right now
He says "hello" from the kitchen
It's night on earth
My daughter and his son are sleeping in the next room
And I think I must be dreaming
