Big Blue House

In a fog of crossroads certainty
I stood and faced the winds
From the pines, a jaybird streaked
Towards the way that I should lead
All across the auburn sky
A flag of freedom flew
It didn't have no stars and stripes
But it looked red, white and blue
Beneath the flag was a Big Blue House
Beaming and full of life
There were lifelong friends who had only met
And shook hands the previous night
My loneliness was paired and matched
Replaced by bones and flesh
All my worries crashed and burned
Like the sunset in the west

Anything you ever want is inside these walls
Never harm another soul and your place is in these halls
My mind was cleared and my future, free from doubts
I owe it all to the Big Blue House

Aristotle, Socrates
play their parts in debates
Men and women, left and right
Only see between their gaze
Tennis games and green grass stains
Shaded afternoon peace
Fun, thought, and brotherly laughs
Emerge from lamb-like fleece
From the mind of Epicurus
Serving all souls lost and found
In the goal of finding happiness
Till we're six feet in the ground
We live a life of simplicity
Well within our means
We learn and work and earn and grow
Out here and behind the scenes

Anything you ever want is inside these walls
Never harm another soul and your place is in these halls
My mind was cleared and my future, free from doubts
I owe it all to the Big Blue House

At long last, a new soul has passed
Through the big brown oak door
She looks an awful lot like me
Only seven months before
I snake through the crowd and hug her
To welcome her to the pride
I said "Dry your eyes and stand tall
This is your new life

Anything you ever want is inside these walls
Never harm another soul and your place is in these halls
My mind was cleared and my future, free from doubts
I owe it all to the Big Blue House
I owe it all to the Big Blue House
I owe it all to the Big Blue House
