A Couple Good Years

We were standing right there on her front porch
Listening to the thunder while the rain poured
It was our first date
I put a shine on my old truck
She could tell I thought I'd screw this up
She was the prettiest thing

She looked at me with her big blue eyes
Reached out and put her hand in mine
She said we wont know if we don't go

So I opened up the door and she climbed in slid over to the middle and I knew I was in
Trouble with the woman that was sitting in my front seat
I would kick the clutch and she'd shift gears
We ran that old truck into the ground after a couple of years
A couple damn good years

That night we went out dancing
A little dirt road romancing
We were on top of the world
We talked about everything from her momma and her daddy to a diamond ring
Damn that diamond ring

When the sun came up and we headed back home
I made sure to drive real slow
Every time I held her hand I knew I was a lucky man

Cause I opened up the door and she climbed in slid over to the middle and I knew I was in

I don't know where she is now but if I heard her voice there'd be no doubt
