Buried Under Centuries

In dreams washed out in grey
A foreboding red sunrise
The sky falls to pieces
And decapitates the night

Every morning I remember
The encapsulating dark
And reach out to the sun

The fiery dawn erupts in embers
It's bright resounding arc
Toppled the castles one by one

Once a silver titan
A beacon in the night
Now engulfed in flames

The gloom will never brighten
The ruins, a shadow of night
Buried with their names

The beholders still will wonder
Was it ever there at all
What legends are buried under
The centuries of snowfall

Did the ancestors fail their mission
To bring the ancient ones to life
Did the snow obstruct their vision
Did the cold cut like a knife

And I can hear them screaming
For the joy that never came
Forever lost in the mist of the morning

The sun breaks over the mountains
And petrifies their bones
Now they sleep
