Younger Self

I often ask myself if I could change one thing
If I could go back in time if I could live that day again
Would I be kinder, or would I be smarter too?
Was I aware that I was quite nasty to you?

I look in the mirror and often don't like what I see
I see all my insecurities staring back at me
Then I look at old photos remember how fat I felt that day
I wish I could tell you that you look amazing in every way

Dear younger self
It's your heart that's your wealth
It's your love that's your fame
It's the kindness you share again and again
So take all your heart and your love and in time
Figure out younger self how to be kind

I used to eat my feelings in every way
On my way back from school I'd buy all the food that I could pay
Then I'd hide in my room and I'd eat til my mind felt calm
I wish I could tell you the guilt was the worst thing by far
