Tell Them Dolphin

The sea is deeply blue
I wonder if I'm too
And I wonder if I am
Or am I sleeping through
A vivid ocean sound
A fishing net surrounds
No way out for the helpless dolphin

Tell them dolphin
About the net of fears
How you've been staying still all of these years
How other fish just fail to see the purpose
But dolphins need
They need to surface

And sometimes I can see
A dolphin swimming free
It might get close and play
But always drift away
I am afraid to hit the ground
To leave no trace and drown
To wake up in this lonely town
For another day at the ocean
To a notion that will wear me out

For too many years
I lived other stories
But this one is real
It's my allegory
The dolphin
The ocean
The fisherman's net
I chose to be captured
But should I regret
I searched for the simple
Ignored and suppressed
The passions I had
I just settled for less
But I've learned my lesson
It took me some time
To change the direction
And ask for what's mine
