The Life That You Deserve

I remember well the land
I grew up on
Not the kind you just give up on
Blood, sweat, tears and money
The time I spent
You can't take from me
Things are not what they used to be
But I can be proud of my legacy

My daddy worked all his life
In those fields
Winning over throws that
Life did wield
Times of pride and times of pain
Taught me how to dance in the rain
My momma gave up her dreams
To raise us
Better give her a hug before
The sun hits the dusk
They never asked for much in return
Just that you keep in mind
The life that you deserve

Oh how I miss the simple days
When you didn't have a care
And you always thought
That Grandma and Grandpa
Would be there
Things changed since way back then
But there's one thing
That's all that's been
You never get tired
Of a good 'ole prayer
God knows you'll need one
Cause life ain't fair

My daddy worked all his
Life in those fields
Winning over throws
That life did wield
Times of pride and times of pain
Taught me how to dance in the rain
My momma gave up her dreams
To raise us
Better give her a hug
Before the sun hits the dusk
They never asked for much in return
Just that you keep in mind
The life that you deserve

Sometimes I forget how
Blessed I am
That this is the life I've been given
And I know a life spent
Spinning your wheels
Ain't a life worth living

My daddy worked all his
Life in those fields
Winning over throws that
Life did wield
Times of pride and times of pain
Taught me how to dance in the rain
My momma gave up her dreams
To raise us
Better give her a hug
Before the sun hits the dusk
They never asked for much in return
Just that you keep in mind
The life that you deserve
That you keep in mind
The life that you deserve
The life that you deserve
