Requiem

Honest and pure hearted
She ruled in these dark days
A gleam of hope for the enslaved
Called to soon into the eternal realm

Struggling against the currents
Underneath a quiet sea
At the end of the horizon
Are the outlines of a ragged shore

As dirges echo in the streets
The funeral march winds through the alleys
The common folk, all dressed in black
Deeply mourning, seized with remorse

Abandon
Hope
All
Ye
Who
Enter
Here!

As I descend
The ashes and flames
Of the circles
(Of the circles)
They reveal
Their true size
With each step down

I slide through
A breach in the walls
To continue
My catharsis
To redeem myself
To experience
The abysses
Of humanity

And so I reach the deepest layers
Heart's opened for the purgatory
And as the mind conflates into eternity
I clearly feel that there is no redemption here
