Last Tale of the Wardancer
The light in my cell is starting to fade
For the final lonely hours
I better start telling what I want to have said
Whining is only for cowards
I'm a prisoner of war, a hero to some
A slayer of dragons, betrayer of hope
My tale will be told for ages to come
And here it will end by means of a rope
I was offered rewards of honour and wealth
To join a campaign and only this once
I would dance with my blades and aid with my spells
I went into battle to the thunder of drums
An attempt for the throne by a bastard son
And in morning mist we charged their hold
But they came from behind and we were overrun
One of our men had betrayed us for gold
My enemies fell as I fought my way free
And I almost reached the rim of the field
I was hit by a bolt that I failed to see
As my limbs gave way I was forced to yield
When you go to the gallows give a jest to the crowd
Slip a coin to the hangman and drop with a smile
It's the only way,
To make the day
Worthwile
He stood on the scaffold and gazed at the crowd
Gave them a bow and bid them farewell
You all came to see this, for that I am proud
I'm ready to go! and laughing he fell
