Breathe

I sit, dwelling in the darkness
Lost in my reflection
Staring in the mirror

Two years since I gave in to madness
The anguish and the sadness
And yet today I'm here

But that's life - gone before you know it
Spoiled if you show it
Keep it locked inside

We're flawed, just beneath the surface
We struggle for a purpose
If not a place to hide

Ill met by fortune and by fate
Both far too soon and far too late
There's nothing left that we can do

I am the bird, you've clipped my wings
But from my prison I still sing
A song I hope is plaguing you

And so, I hope you're always haunted
By all the things you wanted
That never came to pass

Your mind beset by painful memories
That you can still see clearly
Beyond the looking glass

Ill met by fortune and by fate
Both far too soon and far too late
There's nothing left that we can do

I am the bird, you've clipped my wings
But from my prison I still sing
A song I hope is haunting you
