Phantophobia

My body's an effigy
And the townsfolk have lost their peace
And as my limbs are burning
The ash twists up in the breeze

My body's a memory
Of locked doors and abandoned keys
And I can't quit wondering,
"Was there something left in my jeans?"

As I bask in the moonlight
Dust graces my nose
Beside me, my box of plight
Demands calm or, maybe, it's just calling a ghost

In the image of a young man wandering through
The neural passageways
Strengthened by the eyes of newts
He's petrified to finally find
What caused him to be subdued
And if he could have pulled the strings
To cast a lighter shade of blue
Now, blink into my lucid skin
And shake off the poison from the spin
I postulate this is what the ending is:
Some darkness floating outside my grip
Does the feeling bleed from feet to chin?
Does it come and go without sirens?
Does it come and go without being lit?
