Long Summer

Time to empty out the pool
Let's drown away all of our sorrows
Lived to skate another day
Isn't hard
When it's on paper everything is going great
We'll be laughing like it never even hurt
It's all the same to the past

But I know it's been a long summer
I don't know how I can tie it all together
It only hits me when it's all over
You're gone in the blink of an eye
But it felt like forever

Our conversations, our memorials to youth
But we've got nothing left to say now
You can crush it with the leaves underfoot
We talk about it but we tell it like a joke
(Hey, have you heard this one?) ...yeah
What do you get when you get everything you want, then it's gone?
(That's not funny? Wait, what do you mean?)

You'll have to ask me again
If I believe in fate
You'll have to ask me again
Cos everything has changed
And i keep holding it back
I don't wanna face it
That even if I piece it back together
I won't be the same

It's been a long summer
I don't know how I can tie it all together
It only hits me when it's all over
You're gone in the blink of an eye but it felt like forever

Time to empty out the pool let's
Live to skate another day
Isn't hard
But I don't know how I can
