Letter to a Baby Girl

Dear baby girl, I sit down and write this song
To tell you how I see the world at the age of thirty-one
Now don't you worry, I don't mean to go away
But I offer this is a gift on your first birthday

At the centre of life is a question of truth
Not so much your feelings and how they impinge on you
The truth will bring foundation to morality and meaning
As a starting point I recommend John eighteen thirty-seven

I don't mean to complicate it, so let me just summarize
Everyday I hope you find the time to bow your head
And close your eyes
And pray that you...

Know truth and show love and grow in wisdom all the days of your life

The next thing's an action and that action is love
Against such thing there is no law sent from up above
Now you won't always agree with every one that you meet
The truth is you don't have to
All you have to do is love

The beginning of all wisdom is the fear of the Lord
Resting in his promises and living out his word
And I promise all always try to do that in everything I do

Lots of love your dad... and P.S... be good to your Mumma too
