Mermaid Song
A Mermaid once came to my kingdom
To my kingdom by the sea
Wanting for nothing in Heaven and Earth
Than to love, and be loved, by me
She said, "Come to the water, my prince
We'll live out our years young and free"
I turned Her away to the ocean
For my bride She never could be
A sultan then came to my kingdom
Possessing of jewels and gold
He promised to build me a palace
And towers of structure untold
He said, "Just take my daughter for wife
And to you my loyalty's sold"
I gladly accepted his offer
But my wedding night bed was so cold
A score then passed over my kingdom
In my kingdom by the sea
There once again was that Mermaid
Who in twelve years had aged less than three
She said, "Come to the water, oh king
And rule all the oceans so free"
I turned Her away to the ocean
For my bride She never could be
My children then warred for my kingdom
The beaches ran red with their blood
My queen did not care for a minute
She'd nipped all her cares in the bud
Said I, "Fight thus the waters my kin
Our castle's destroyed in a flood"
They fought and they died with their vengeance
And left my poor soul in the mud
An old man I am in my kingdom
Oh my kingdom by the sea
There once again is that Mermaid
Desiring desire of me
She says, "Come to the water, old man
Be reborn young and so free"
I turned Her away to the ocean
For my bride She never could be
I turned Her away to the ocean
For my bride She never could be
I turned Her away to the ocean
For my bride She never could be
To my kingdom by the sea
Wanting for nothing in Heaven and Earth
Than to love, and be loved, by me
She said, "Come to the water, my prince
We'll live out our years young and free"
I turned Her away to the ocean
For my bride She never could be
A sultan then came to my kingdom
Possessing of jewels and gold
He promised to build me a palace
And towers of structure untold

And to you my loyalty's sold"

I turned Her away to the ocean
For my bride She never could be
