Excuse me, I, would like to buy a metaphor
But I've seen the price and it just costs more than I can afford

A simple rhyme, a simple sonnet, and a chord
It's twice as hard but there's no reward if I can't be heard

Take the stride, inflame the crowd though their number small
I like the sound, but I can't recall if I've seen it all

The light in my life had faded away
It used to be fun but it's bringing me down and in time

Half of my life I was clearly dead
You gave it a try but found nothing instead
You could have just run, or maybe just fighting it back so I won't have to wake and see

A cynic mind, a different lie, though it sounds the same
I'm fairly calm, though I cannot claim, that I am to blame

The stakes were high, I bet my money where I should
