Reverie

Another quiet day,
Lost in my mind with all the things I didn't say.
Forgiveness slowly breaking down the scars inside each day.
So far away from what we knew.

And I run and I run and I run from the memories of you.
And I learn and I learn and I learn how to know my truth.
Learning how to grow and how to die.
Learning how to know when not to cry.

"That's all they'll ever be, memories." I tell myself.
There's no-one here but me, alone again.
I feel myself slipping away with that throw away phrase
That she'll never think about again.
But I do.

And I run and I run and I run from the memories of you.
And I learn and I learn and I learn how to know my truth.
I'm sure that it'll be fine, the sands are on my side tonight,
Learning how to love and how to die.

I'm washing them away -
The salt in my eyes is really from a different place this time.
Love them away and you kiss them away
And I'll never be the same again
But you love me just the same and I do -

And I run and I run and I run making memories with you.
And I know and I know and I know my truth.
Learning how to love and how to die.
