A Forward Focus

I'm just a young boy with a broken heart
But I've got dreams, so I work hard
Read the back of a dollar, I don't trust no stars
In God I Trust, that's no matter how hard
I pray to God that my dreams become a reality
And I've been working on a positive mentality
'Cause I stress a lot, I prolly get it from my daddy
I bet my parents didn't know I had this in me when they had me
And, look, my last album was about a lot of sad things
I really went through that, I just hope I can keep from relapsing
And look, my mind is something I've really been combatting
The Devil's been sneaking in, and he's been attacking
The way I think, man, I know it ain't right
Lust and envy been creeping all up in my mind
I've been thinking about some things that I really don't like
I've lost focus on God, I've been so outta line

I've been lost in my past
But I know I should focus on the future
Life's been moving fast
I just wish it'd move a little smoother
'Cause some days get rough
Especially when you're chasing your dreams
Somedays I don't feel like enough
Then I remember how God got me through that heat
But lately, I've been stuck between a rock and a hard place
That rock, it's God, and that hard place is my heart, man
So I've been on a walk, on a road to healing
And God's been helping me, keeping me dreaming

So I pray that God gives us all a forward focus
So that we can plan for the future and learn from the past
Yeah, we're heartbroken, but we've been chosen
With God by my side, I'm fine with being an outcast
So we gotta walk, walk by faith and not by sight
And when we talk, we gotta speak facts and not lies
And I know, I know it's hard to live the straight and narrow life
But I know it's worth it, 'cause in the end, we meeting Christ
