Morning Moon

I love waking up and looking out the window
To see what the day has for little old me
I wave at the flowers and smile at my tree
And look up at the sky, and you know what I see?

The morning moon
Even lighter in the afternoon
I seeya shining
And others do too
It's not just the night when you need the moon

Some people like the dark of night
The thick black air and the velvet sight
The twinkling stars, the lovers delight
And the moon shining over big and bright

But me? I like the moon in the morning
The clear sky and the cotton clouds
The birds, the bugs, the bees waking up
And a little hint of moonshine in my eye

Poems have been composed
About that midnight moonlight
Oodles upon oodles
Of odes upon odes
But I prefer my poets
With a dose of that sweet prose
That harkens to those early hours that no one knows

But me? I like the moon in the morning
The clear sky and the cotton clouds
The birds, the bugs, the bees waking up
And a little hint of moonshine in my eye

In my eye
Oh in my eye
